I was bored as shit this afternoon, so I decided to do a useless meme.

Say Anything
I haven't watched this movie since at least September, and I'm not sure I can watch it just yet without sobbing through the entire thing. Everyone needs a Lloyd Dobler in their life, someone who will be there through everything, even when you push them away. The ending always reminds me of The Graduate, too.

Lost in Translation
Although not a romance in the strictest sense, Lost in Translation is definitely a story about love. Without a single typical romantic 'moment,' like an epic love scene or sweeping kiss, it still manages to convey two people who, for some reason, happen to be in the same places in their lives at the same time, despite major differences.

When Harry Met Sally
This movie cemented my belief that I can never love anyone who isn't my best friend. I could never be in a relationship with someone I couldn't just hang out with or talk with about anything. And that you can love someone despite habits that drive you nuts. And the married couples talking about how they met and fell in love in the little interviews? Old people can be so sweet sometimes.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I don't know whether this movie makes me happy or breaks my heart. On the one hand, looking at how bitter and angry they became with each other, enough to want to erase the entire relationship - it hurts to see that you can be so cruel to someone you once loved. But at the same time, the memories are so sweet and flawed that you realize despite their treatment of each other in the end, they really had something good. The ending can either read that they'll keep coming back and hurting each other and keep doing it until the day they die, or that you really can't keep a good love down. Oh, and the scene under the blanket where Clementine asks if she's pretty will never fail to make me cry. That, and "Let's make up a good-bye. Let's pretend we had one." WEEEEEEP.

Beauty and the Beast
I weep. I weep like a little child. The end.

Bridget Jones' Diary
It's about hating someone and loving them. It's about talking too much about how you hate someone and then having to eat your words. It's about being a terrible cook and making blue soup and marmalade and having someone not care and try to help you out anyway. It's a whole mess of things, not the least of which is the end: "Nice men don't kiss like that." "Oh yes they fucking do."

Love Actually
YOU try to pick a fucking favorite story arc! I just chose the cap of Sam because it's the one that makes me grin like an idiot most. Still, one of the most heartbreaking lines remains, "I never told your Mom enough. I should have told her every day because she was perfect every day." WAHHHHH!

(You will notice I'm getting less verbose with every one. I am not good at these memes.)

Moulin Rouge!
It's not so much the actual love between them, or why they love each other, it's just that they do. It's not happy, it's painful and ruins Christian, but they can't help it. I start sobbing at the line "Come back to me/and forgive everything!" and don't stop until the credits are halfway through.

High Fidelity
What makes High Fidelity such a good love story? "The Cusack factor? And the fact that it's not sappy. It's honest and truthful. It's a romantic movie with people you could see on the street and it occurs under believable circumstances." - [livejournal.com profile] brown_jackknife

Secretary
I just have this thing about being loved for who you really are and not having to hide anything.

Plus, this movie? Really, really hot.
