Apr. 14th, 2007 04:23 pmI have to say, the soundtrack for the first Young Guns movie has some of the worst music I've ever heard in my life. It actually hurts to listen to. It's so offensively anachronistic and SO 80S. Dear lord. Yaugh. Do you know how bad it is? It's so bad, it was the theme song for Walker, Texas Ranger for its first few seasons. Anthony Marinelli's synth electric guitar horror fest of a soundtrack can still make me nostalgic, though. God. Cheesiest music ever.
In case you can't tell, I've finally managed to get my hands on copies of both Young Guns and Young Guns II's original score, after trying for at least four years.
And, because I love you all so very much, here's some of it.
Opening - Billy Escapes - Tunstall Ranch from Young Guns. This is the truly horrendous music that I referred to. The filename has Tunstall's name spelled incorrectly, by the way.
Because I can't bear just giving you all that awful music and nothing to musically cleanse the palate, here's some tracks from the Young Guns II soundtrack, which is up there on my favorite movie scores of all time. Don't be scared off by the horrible electric guitar and keyboarding from hell in Young Guns. Alan Silvestri's Young Guns II theme is beautiful. I think there may be five seconds of an electric guitar wail in one of the tracks, but other than that, it's great music.
Young Guns II main titles. I love this music so much that if I hadn't managed to find this copy of the soundtrack, I would have tried to hold a microphone up to my TV to record it.
Billy Discovered, track two. I've watched this part of the movie more times than I can count. Beautiful music (though I'm not a huge fan of the drums kicking in) coupled with a great overhead shot of New Mexico. How much do I love this movie? So much. If I had to pick a favorite track, this would be it by miles.
It's Over, from towards the end of the film. A quieter piece. Very sad.
