I spent the weekend with a RENE at my house! Sooo fun. We saw Underworld. Bad, bad, bad movie. It hurt mah brain but made me laugh. I got Rene hooked on 24. Made cookies, am now STUFFED. Watching Ever After. Watched Bridget Jones's Diary (which made me want to go back to London SO BAD). I tried to rent both Lost in Translation and Interview with a Vampire, but BOTH were checked out, ALL copies. *cries* I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS TO SEE LOST IN TRANSLATION, DAMMIT!

Got no writing done Friday night. Will write NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW.

Thought about it, and I won't post shrieking triumphant about RotK winning awards until the Oscars. Because really, the only reason I would shriek is if they DIDN'T win Golden Globes or whatever.

I feel bad, though, because RotK is most likely GOING to win the Best Picture Oscar which they rightly deserve, but the other movies aren't getting as much of a chance as they would otherwise. There are other movies that deserve Academy recognition, but they probably won't get it because Return of the King is probably going to win. Sofia Coppola DESERVES an amazing amount of credit and reward for Lost in Translation, but as Peter Jackson is going to get the Oscar, she won't. It would be a breakthrough for her and for female directors, because so few of them get recognized, but Peter Jackson will get it. I'm not saying at all that Peter Jackson doesn't deserve it. He's done an incredible job with Lord of the Rings, and despite many fans anal-retentive nitpicking, it's so close to the books it's incredible. He brought a saga that so many people all over the world love deeply to the cinema with breathtaking brilliance and managed to make it as close to perfect as humanly possible. All the actors worked together to make a great trilogy as well and they all put their best into it. There's no way it won't rack up the awards. But I feel a shade of sadness for the ones who are just as deserving but won't get the recognition they deserve. And, um, where the hell is recognition for Peter Pan? Fuck this, that should have gotten a nomination SOMEWHERE! It was ART, fucking ART. Beautiful beyond words! WHERE WAS ITS NOMINATION????!!!

Writing now. Yes. And as a promise for future entries: I will not mention religion, politics, or stupid things. Nothing that spawns comment-wank. Any comment mentioning this resolution will be deleted.

Ignoring the Valentine aspect of Valentines Day, except to pass out my LotR valentines. Denethor's love burns for you.
